What's your B? What are you moving towards? What are your barriers?
-
Moving towards a seamless platform experience for end-users and cost and lack of technical expertise are the current barriers.Almost 10 years ago
-
Bruce just mentioned getting bogged down in day-to-day which reminds me that I'd like our organization to talk about our future and how we might have a better foundation to make it happen.Almost 10 years ago
-
B = Completely redesigned web presence. Barriers are competing priorities (both in the library and the university) and convincing colleagues to reimagine and recast the content and services they're responsible for on the site.Almost 10 years ago
-
I'd like to be able to mono-task better. That was a goal I had before but didn't have a word for.Almost 10 years ago
-
We want our community (students, faculty and staff) to recognize the library as the source of support and expertise for citation management software. Barriers: students don't yet know why citations matter and that there is software to make it all easier; people are busy and have lots of information bombarding them so getting the message across is difficult; students don't know the depth of resources we offer (services, software, etc.) and so don't think to turn to the library.Almost 10 years ago
-
Complete the revitalization of staff functions, collaborative teamwork, positive outlook and integration of the new strategic plan. Obstacles/challenges: Mostly out of the way, but the staff looks forward to a new staff member in a revised position that better meets the current needs of our librariesAlmost 10 years ago
-
Getting the community more involved at the Library. Programs are poorly attended even though patrons seem interested, even excited, when we tell them about up coming programs.Almost 10 years ago
-
B = New Director hired and in place. Barriers: Glacial administrative processes in an organization undergoing fiscal distress and structural transformation.Almost 10 years ago
-
Library staff and patrons want everything on the first floor, but the first floor has run out of space. Something has to give, but what?! We need creative solutions and a willingness by staff & the community to try things (they may fail, but then we'll try something else).Almost 10 years ago
-
Developing a more robust "Shared Desk" environment. We have Circulation and Reference next to each other at the same front desk but are still pretty separate in our functions. The barriers are pulling together different types of functions, training, sharing the responsibilities equitably, and past personality/history issues.Almost 10 years ago
-
We would like to be the "hub" of activity that we know we should be. Barriers come from students easy accessing items from internet/google and not really understanding the importance of using research. Faculty buyin is something we are working on to get from a to bAlmost 10 years ago
-
A possible barrier to my goal is how far the community's imagination can stretch throughout the planning process.Almost 10 years ago
-
Generating a strategic plan. Barriers: we don't have one to it will be a brand new process for everyone on staff.Almost 10 years ago
-
To be fully staffed! Some changes have happened and we just need to make it through the process of regrouping and getting everyone on board.Almost 10 years ago
-
New library website. Barriers: Fighting campus IT centralization movements to remove tech staff from the library.Almost 10 years ago
-
A library that's even more focused on users' needs. Biggest obstacle is budget challenges so we'll have to prioritize the most important needs. Hopefully our strategic plan process will be finalized then.Almost 10 years ago
-
Barriers: Cooperation of all libraries to participate. Short staffed and limited financial resources.Almost 10 years ago
-
b goal: increased cohesive instructionAlmost 10 years ago
-
I am moving toward being fully engaged in a planning process for a new community center in my community, with the library as an anchor tenant in that new space.Almost 10 years ago
-
Barriers: timeAlmost 10 years ago
-
2. Want to much more effectively market things we're doing to help all the members--barriers are a (current) lack of expertise and a (regular) lack of budget.Almost 10 years ago
-
b barrier: collective buy-inAlmost 10 years ago
-
Identifying and expanding services to libraries through the strategic planning process.Almost 10 years ago

Remodel parts of the library to be more comfortable for students. Barrier: Money and university supportAlmost 10 years ago
-
Don't have a cut in next year's budget - mitigate resource cost increases with cuts to other resources.Almost 10 years ago
-
1. Want to be able to provide members useful and usable data to make better decisions.Almost 10 years ago
-
Space assessment. Barriers: moneyAlmost 10 years ago

More comprehensive and convenient training for staffAlmost 10 years ago
