  • Don't need it.

  • They didn't learn to teach with it ...

  • Because edutech is more complicated than real-life tech (eg Tesco.com) and it changes every year

  • Reason why people don't like edtech? Zealots. @dajbelshaw

  • teachers do NOT need to love edtech, they just need to use it. It's a tool to support and help them, not a thing to be loved.

  • lack of awareness of how useful technology can be

  • because learners, teachers AND institutions need to engage with something difficult

  • I suspect that many teachers think - rightly - that good teaching requires face-to-face interaction, the teacher reading how much the student understands (for example) from their body language etc., and responding appropriately. And some learning technologies - online lectures, podcasts, etc. - make this difficult to achieve.

  • Because teachers worry about losing control of classroom management and learner being more expert than they are.

  • They are difficult to manage and may embarrass you in front of students

  • They see them as mere tools. Who loves a fridge or washing m/c? Their ability to transform learning takes a while to sink in.
