Apologizing for actions, even those made by ancestor, is extremely important.By apologizing, we acknowledge a wrongdoing and furthermore, such actions can be prevented in the future. Patriotism is not a virtue since it is similar to nationalism, and the two helps people create a biased perception toward their "enemies" during a war?

How is it possible for a government to be neutral when there are so many political views and standpoints in society? It is hard to be impartial.

Also when it comes to apologizing sometimes its better to forget a past that has nothing to do with us. Its basically holding onto the past.

The book speaks about apologizing. I agree with john howard who first brought up that we should only apologize for our own errors not anyone others.
